Host of Jimbo's Juke Joint & Acoustic Roadhouse Cafe
Jim Burke has volunteered as a program host at KUNR from his humble beginnings with Folk, Bluegrass and Beyond in 1990, to the latest reincarnation beginning in 2002, with an expansive and appealing blend of music rooted in Americana culture known as "Jimbo's Juke Joint and Acoustic Roadhouse Café."
The Juke Joint and Acoustic Roadhouse Cafe brand caters to the delivery of the best in singer/songwriters, sweet harmony, and outstanding pickin', performed by rookie and seasoned musicians. In its unadorned state, the Juke Joint weaves in a touch of heartbreak and heartache, "old-timey" Newgrass and Bluegrass, folksy mountain and garage alt-country, as well as rural rhythms including honky-tonkin' and swampy blue-eyed soulful hillbilly melodies whipped together with a warm breeze of authentic passion and an upbeat "can you feel it" experience.
All of this, well blended and intimately celebrated, along with Jim's soft spoken encyclopedic knowledge of traditional Americana music that rebels against conventional categorization appears on Jimbo's Juke Joint and Acoustic Roadhouse Cafe, Saturdays 1 pm to 3 pm on KUNR.
