Expert on school violence to speak in Reno
Listen to the story
At the end of last year, Northern Nevada faced the reality of school shootings. A 12-year-old boy came to Sparks Middle School with a handgun and killed himself and teacher Michael Landsberry, as well as injuring two other students. Since then, the school district and the community have sought to understand and prevent this kind of tragedy from happening again. Thursday, at 5 o'clock at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Lieutenant Colonel Dave Grossman, who's one of the leading scholars on violence and school safety, will speak on the subject. KUNR's Will Stone spoke with him this morning when he was around town.
