Interview: Sex trafficking rescue efforts in Reno

KUNR spoke to John McKendricks with Awaken, Inc., which provides rescue services for sex trafficking victims in northern Nevada. The recent passage of Assembly Bill 67 has made sex trafficking an offense in Nevada for the very first time.

The FBI recently performed a national operation to rescue sex trafficking victims. They saved 105 children, including a 14-year-old girl in Reno.

To learn more about sex trafficking in our region, KUNR's Michelle Bliss spoke to John McKendricks with Awaken, Inc., which provides rescue services for sex trafficking victims in northern Nevada.

KUNR also reports that traffickers often travel to Reno for summer tourist events, like Hot August Nights, to sell the sex services of their victims.
