Monkey's Voyage author on how life came to be
Listen to the story
Today there are more than 100 species of monkeys in South America, but it didn't have to be that way, Alan de Queiroz says. He's an evolutionary biologist who teaches at the University of Nevada, Reno. He's a written a new book called the Monkey's Voyage.
The author talks about an unlikely journey across the Alantic and other oceans millions of years ago that brought monkeys, rodents and all sorts of animals from the Old World to the New, which ultimately determined the living world we know.
