A new program from the Reno Municipal Court is helping local residents with mental health and substance abuse disorders get the services they need. KUNR's Kate McGee reports the program is improving lives and saving money.The Co-Occurring Specialty Court helps defendants who are struggling with two issues at once: mental health and drug or alcohol addiction.
It's a one-year program funded by a $975,000 federal grant.
There are currently 36 people in the program, and two are about to graduate.
