Sparks appoints new fire chief

The City of Sparks has appointed a new fire chief to replace Andy Flock who is retiring. Tom Garrison will be sworn in late next month.

The City of Sparks has appointed a new fire chief to replace Andy Flock who is retiring. Tom Garrison will be sworn in late next month.

Garrison started as a firefighter for Sparks in 1987 and has since served as a fire captain and division chief.

Along with experience in fire management and suppression, Garrison has training in emergency management.

He has a B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno and training from the National Fire Academy.

Additionally, Garrison has served on the Sparks Fire Department's Honor Guard, Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team, and the Technical Rescue Team.
