Western Nevada College president announces retirement

Western Nevada College President Carol Lucey is retiring after 14 years at the helm of the school.
During Lucey's tenure, the college brought in new degree and certification programs and strengthened partnerships with local businesses, state agencies, and the K-12 education system.
Chet Burton, the vice president of finance and administrative services for the college, will take over leadership temporarily as a presidential search gets underway by the Board of Regents for the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Over the summer, Lucey announced her intention to retire at some point during this school year.
Western Nevada College is a community college serving 5,000 students each year from seven counties.
