The Washoe County School Board has selected a replacement for one of its members who resigned last month following sexual harassment allegations.
Ryan Gonda will replace Nick Smith and serve through the end of the year.
The board unanimously chose Gonda from seven applicants Tuesday following five hours of interviews and debate.
Gonda is a domestic violence attorney for the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.
"In my professional and personal experience, I've been exposed to some of the most vulnerable children and families in our society, and because of that, I feel that I have a unique perspective going forward," Gonda said during his interview with the board.
Gonda will represent District C in north Washoe, which includes Spanish Springs, North Valleys and Cold Springs.
