University's thriving research and innovation a boost to economic development

The University of Nevada, Reno has always placed a high priority on its research capacity and capability. But today the role that Research plays is more vital than ever – not just for the university but as an economic driver and attraction to top students, faculty and industries.

The university’s growing research plans and vision were the focus of a KUNR broadcast interview with President Marc Johnson and Mridul Gautam, the University’s Vice President of Research and Innovation. Dr. Johnson and Dr. Gautam were the interviewed by KUNR General Manager David Stipech for the March 6, 2015, "University Spotlight" segment on Beyond the Headlines.

The university is ranked among the top 150 research universities in the nation, and has set its sights on the achieving the Carnegie Foundation's classification of Research University/Very High.
