The Importance of Sleep.

Air Date: 05/16/13 Americans don't get enough sleep. Adults need 7-9 hours of sleep every night and teenagers need at least 9. CDC reports teenagers get barely 6 hours of sleep. Drivers fatigue causes 100,000 crashes every year. You do not catch up by sleeping in on your days off. The lack of sleep messes with hormone regulation. People who don't get enough sleep gain weight and have trouble losing weight, perception of pain is heightened, and short term memory is affected. New research shows that sleeping in longer on the weekend is not a good practice. It has the same effect as jetlag. Sleep deprivation literally shortens your life, so get a good night's rest.
