Air Date: 06/12/12 Children often times don't see any reason to comply with what a parent wants their child to do. This generation of parents frequently grew up with parents that yelled and spanked kids in order to get their way, and many don't want to be the kind of parent that uses those methods. This week Cheryl discusses the balance between nice and firm parenting. Effective parenting requires firmness, follow through, and respect when speaking with your children. Many can avoid becoming a wimpy parent if they understand that parenting is about teaching and telling hard truths out of love, and not avoiding hard truths in an effort for children to "like" you.
