Air Date: 09/11/12 Sometimes it's the little things that are hard to take. Children will pitch a fit when they are asked to go to bed or get off the phone. Parents will often feel unappreciated in these moments. This week Cheryl suggests we all take the acronym Q-TIP to heart and "Quit Taking It Personally." Most of the daily ordinary battles you fight with your children aren't about you at all. Parents underestimate the impact of development on their children. Children don't view the world the way we do. A 3-year-old saying no to going to bed is just learning autonomy and independence. Ironically, it is a lot more interesting to practice your autonomy when parents are noisy and vibrant. Keep a Q-TIP nearby and listen to this week's edition of Parenting for more suggestions on how to understand the role a child's development plays in their behavior. Parenting with Cheryl Erwine airs every Tuesday morning on 88.7 FM, KUNR, and can be reached at 775-331-6723 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
