Premium Rush / Paranorman

Air Date: 09/07/12   Wilee is one of 1,500 bike couriers in Manhattan who rides on the edge by having a bike with no brakes. On this day, Wilee has a delivery that is so valuable that a corrupt NYC Detective, who needs the money, begins to chase Wilee throughout the city to get it before the envelope is delivered. Robin discusses the movie and how the what and why of the chase aren't as important as the how.  Joseph Gordon Leavitt delivers a great performance and a rush in this exciting chase movie.  The movie Paranorman doesn't necessarily pander to kids or parents.  But overall, the blend of humor makes it a great choice for a family trip.  In Paranorman, Norman Babcock is a boy who can speak to the dead, but no one besides his eccentric new friend, Neil, believes his ability is real. One day, Norman's estranged eccentric uncle tells him of an important annual ritual he must take up to protect the town from an curse cast by a witch it condemned centuries ago. Eventually, Norman decides to cooperate, but things don't go according to plan. Now, a magic storm of the witch threatens Blithe Hollow as the accursed dead rise. Together with unexpected new companions, Norman struggles to save his town, only to discover the horrific truth of the curse. With that insight, Norman must resolve the crisis for good as only he can.  Listen in for more on this week's film review with Robin Hollabird.
