Air Date: 10/18/12 The older we become, the more we face coping with illness. Conventional wisdom suggests that talking about ones fears and vulnerabilities will be the most effective way to cope and deal with fears surrounding illness. We think that open discussion about what's going on will diminish our fears and allow us to cope better. But research shows that's not always the case. People are wired differently. For many, the better coping mechanism is to not talk about it. The research is there as counterintuative as it may seem. This week Dr. Jankovich discusses what lifts people's spirits while dealing with illness on this week's edition of Relationships. Dr. Rebecca Jankovich airs Thursday mornings on 88.7 FM, KUNR, and can be reached at 775-322-1839.
