Many times teens will say that they aren't being hurt by it and everyone is doing it. Try and explain the impact on their bodies and lives and if they don't believe you send them to an expert. Don't trust your teen even if they promise not to use drugs. Most of all, don't give up. If you give up, it makes them think that you passively support their drug use. Take away privileges and don't let up. Insist that they have so many clean tests before they will get the car back, for example. Drug test and make privileges contingent on results. When you catch them, let them know and be persistent. Hear more on how to deal with teens and marijuana on this week's edition of Relationships.
