Air Date: 05/02/13 Guilt is often a good thing. The guilt punishes us for acting outside our code of conduct. But a healthy conscience helps us stay within certain moral boundaries. The conscience goes through stages of development as the child matures. As they're younger they only feel bad when they get caught doing something wrong and as they mature, they feel bad simply knowing they've done something wrong. And then as a healthy adult, you will try and only do good things because you know how you want to feel.
