Handling stressful situations.

The standard protocol for handling stress is simple, get enough sleep, eat well, don't skip breakfast, avoid drinking too much, and exercise. The standards help, but there is another suggestion that really helps. Shake up how you look at the problem. Change your mindset. For example, let's say someone who values their family most of all, but spends long days at work doesn't realize that the time investment is where their priorities are reflected. In this instance a reframe is necessary to understand that although money is important, if one is in this situation then they won't be able to keep their family happy if they don't spend enough time with them. So, there needs to be a revamp on how many hours can be worked, and changes made in the business model to ensure clients understand what is going on. Dr. Jankovich offers detailed examples on changing the way you look at a problem on this week's edition of Parenting. Dr. Rebecca Jankovich airs Thursday mornings on 88.7 FM, KUNR, and can be reached at 775-322-1839.
