Both presidential candidates are scheduled to make stops in Northern Nevada this week. As Reno Public Radio Julia Ritchey reports, the two campaigns see the state as up for grabs.
The most recent polling in Nevada shows Clinton with a two point advantage over Trump, a slim enough margin that both campaigns are upping their presence in the Silver State.
Hillary Clinton will talk jobs this Thursday in Reno, while Donald Trump will attend a private fundraiser on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.
"Statistically, they're in a dead heat; they're too close to call," says Fred Lokken, a political science professor at Truckee Meadows Community College. "Most states have made up their minds already, and so for the few states, like Nevada, that haven't, they become critical in making that magic number of 270 electoral votes."
He says Nevada's sluggish recovery makes it a natural campaign focus for Clinton. The state's unemployment rate is about 6.5 percent, the second highest in the country.
Lokken says to expect both candidates to hammer this issue until election day.
