Reno City Manager Andrew Clinger Resigns

ThisisReno.com

Reno City Manager Andrew Clinger has resigned, effective October 9, amid allegations of professional misconduct including sexual harassment.

In a statement sent to media Thursday night, Clinger said that the last few weeks have been challenging for him and his family and that no one enjoys having their professional conduct questioned. He added that he has confidence his reputation will be cleared when the investigation is completed and the results are made public.

Clinger is facing four complaints of misconduct from three female employees. Just this week, city council voted to increase the amount of funding spent on the investigation process to a total of $150,000.

After Clinger’s announcement, Mayor Hillary Schieve called a special meeting of the council, which will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 14. She also issued a statement thanking Clinger for his service to the city.

Schieve noted that Reno is at a turning point and said it’s imperative for council and city staff to stay focused on the health and vibrancy of their organization moving forward.
