More than $11.5 million worth of widely-anticipated Mackay Stadium renovations at the University of Nevada are open to the public. Reno Public Radio's Marcus Lavergne reports.

Notable new features of the stadium include an 8,000 square-foot club level, which can be rented out for different events throughout the year as well as a new multi-million dollar video-sound system, a long awaited improvement.

The athletics department at the University of Nevada, Reno, is in a phase of growth. That's why Reno Public Radio’s Marcus Lavergne sat down with Nevada Athletic Director Doug Knuth to get the latest on signing day, renovations to Mackey Stadium, and more.

Wider aisles and more wheelchair accessible seats are two of the key renovations Wolf Pack football fans can look forward to next season.

The Nevada Wolf Pack secured its fifth bowl game win Tuesday night with a 28-23 victory over Colorado State. The inaugural Arizona Bowl at Arizona Stadium was a nail-biter until the very end with Nevada trailing by one point, 23-22, with less than four minutes left on the clock.

The Nevada Wolf Pack football team starts conference play in a big way this weekend, facing off against its southern adversary in the annual Battle for Nevada. Reno Public Radio’s Marcus Lavergne reports.

The last time the UNLV Rebels entered Mackay Stadium was in 2013 when they beat the Pack shattering a nearly decade-long winning streak and sending the coveted Fremont Cannon Trophy back to Las Vegas.

The Wolf Pack reclaimed that trophy last season. Nevada’s Athletic Director Doug Knuth says that behind the cannon, there's a rivalry fans relish.  

Mackay Stadium at UNR is in serious need to renovations and upgrades and a new $11 million dollar loan is going to fix it.  Doug Knuth, Director of Athletics at UNR took Reno Public Radio's Esther Ciammachilli to the football field to explain exactly what the school plans to do with this money and how they'll pay it back.

Wolf Pack officials are hoping to get approval from the Nevada System of Higher Education's Board of Regents for more than $11 million worth of upgrades to Mackay Football Stadium. UPDATE: In the beginning of this piece, Knuth discusses the game between Nevada and San Jose State that took place on 9-27-14. The final score from this game was Nevada 21 San Jose 10. The Wolf Pack is now 3-1 as they head into homecoming week and the upcoming game against Boise State.
