A surge of out-of-staters are fleeing major cities and purchasing homes in Montana, Wyoming and other parts of the Mountain West, according to real estate agents.

 

"These out-of-state buyers are just coming in droves," said D.J. Smith, president of the Missoula Organization of Realtors.

Two states in the Mountain West have banned real estate agents from holding open houses to help stem the spread of COVID-19.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak made the announcement on Wednesday, joining Colorado in the region.

A local development official says the low amount of Class A office space available is becoming an obstacle. Our contributor Kaleb Roedel of the Northern Nevada Business Weekly has the story.

Existing home sales in Sparks are up...by a lot. That's according to a monthly report from the Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors.

Our contributor Brook Bentley of the Northern Nevada Business Weekly says that last month, there was an 11 percent increase from the sales made in October, but the jump year-over-year is much larger.

Urban Farm Searching For New Home

  A nearly one-acre urban farm in downtown Reno is looking for a new home after its lease expired. Reno Public Radio’s Julia Ritchey has more.

For the last three years, Lost City Farm has become a landmark in downtown Reno – a surprising sea of green on south Center Street overlooked by a mural of a big blue whale.

Lyndsey Langsdale and her business partner, Toni Ortega, started the farm after working with the planning commission to craft an urban farming ordinance.

Rancharrah

The iconic Harrah family estate in south Reno, known as Rancharrah, has been sold to developers. Reno Public Radio's Michelle Bliss reports that the deal was sealed Monday after months of review.

Construction will kick off this spring for hundreds of homes, along with commercial offices and retail spaces across the sprawling Rancharrah property.
