The Huff Fire northeast of Elko has burned more than 1,400 acres and destroyed one structure after sparking Tuesday afternoon.

Accordingto the Elko Daily Free Press, the blaze is 50% contained. KUNR has not independently verified that estimate.

Residents are not being evacuated at this time, according to the Bureau of Land Management.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A red flag warning is in effect for Elko County until 11 p.m.

A fire burning in Elko County has destroyed one building and threatens at least two dozen homes. Residents are not being evacuated at this time, according to the Bureau of Land Management.

The Huff Fire is burning about three miles north of Interstate 80 near the Ryndon exit, about 15 miles northeast of the city of Elko. The fire has consumed an estimated 2,000 acres.

A red flag warning is in effect for Elko County until Wednesday at 11 p.m.
