Why is media management important to understand as a journalism student  -- or any journalist -- today? What is the future for public broadcasting? And how does the U.S. model of public media compare to others around the world?

These were a few elements of the conversation with the inaugural Reynolds School Media Manager in Residence, professor Gregory Lowe on KUNR's Beyond the Headlines (air date 4-24-15). David Stipech visited with Lowe and Journalism Dean Al Stavitsky on the Reynolds School Media Watch segment of the broadcast. Lowe holds the position of professor of media management at the University of Tampere, Finland.

Professor Lowe is a former executive of Finland’s national broadcasting company, where he headed the innovation unit, and is currently serving as president of the European Media Management Association. He organized an international series of biennial conferences on public media and holds a doctorate from the University of Texas, Austin.
