EDITOR'S NOTE:

KUNR became aware of certain issues regarding the company's business practices after this story originally aired. In addition, the social media copy used to direct readers to our website was worded in a way that seemed promotional to many of our followers. This post was not meant to be an endorsement of the company in any way. It was meant as a profile of what seemed to be an interesting business -- similar to other profiles KUNR has aired as part of its collaboration with the Northern Nevada Business View. KUNR will be working in the coming days on a follow-up piece.

A new service aimed at connecting residents with their favorite local restaurants through door-to-door delivery is setting up shop in Northern Nevada. KUNR Contributor Kaleb Roedel of the Northern Nevada Business Viewreports.

Starting this month, DoorDash -- a tech company based out of the Bay Area -- will offer delivery from more than 800 local restaurants in the Reno-Sparks area.

According to DoorDash, customers in the region can order food between the hours of 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. from a wide selection of restaurants not typically associated with delivery including fast food and many casual, sit-down restaurants.

The company says it will also donate $1 between Feeding America and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada (FBNN) for reach order placed in Reno from Aug. 1-31.

With DoorDash’s arrival in Reno, the platform now operates in 1,000 cities nationwide.
