University of Nevada, Reno Provost Kevin Carman and Engineering Dean ManosMaragakis discuss NAASIC, the University’s Nevada Advanced Autonomous Systems Innovation Center. The interview with David Stipech aired on KUNR's Beyond the Headlines (air date 10-17-14).
The development of NAASIC is supported by a $3 million grant from the Knowledge Fund which is administered through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Warren Rapp was recently appointed as NAASIC business director.
The University already has work under way in advanced autonomous systems; NAASIC will further spur research and teaching in this arena. This includes active research and development programs related to drones, plus advanced autonomous systems including robotics and other aspects of engineering.

The University of Nevada, Reno's College of Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series features Dr. Missy Cummings, automous systems expert and one of the U.S. Navy's first female fighter pilots.
