Construction of Edgewood Tahoe’s new lodge is in full swing. Our contributor Brook Bentley of the Northern Nevada Business Weekly has details on the project, which will be finished this summer.

The project has been in the works for a decade and will result in a 154-room luxury lodge in Lake Tahoe set to open in June. After that, amenities like a ballroom and restaurant will be built. Eventually, there will also be 10 multi-residence cabins.

Resort officials say they expect the additions to double their staff from 250 to about 500 people during peak season. They've slowly started hiring, but that process will pick up in the spring. Edgewood Tahoe has some workforce housing in place, but they don't have plans for any additional accommodations.

The project will use customized thermostat controls, water efficient landscaping, and high-performance insulation to lower water and energy consumption.
