State officials are recommending an overall reduction in Nevada's unemployment insurance rate. KUNR contributor Kaleb Roedel of the Northern Nevada Business View has the details.
According to the Nevada's Employment Security Council, lowering the unemployment insurance rate could save nearly 49,000 businesses in the state millions of dollars next year.
The council is expected to recommend a cut from 1.95% of payroll to 1.9% overall, the lowest it has been in years.
While reduction doesn't sound significant, businesses are expected to save an estimated $269 million next year.
Employment security officials are expected to formally approve the new rate in December.
