A land swap between the Nevada Historical Society and the University of Nevada Reno has been put on hold. KUNR contributor Kaleb Roedel of theNorthern Nevada Business View has the details.
Officials with the state’s Interim Finance Committee say the deal should be fully considered during the 2019 legislative session.
The idea is to move the historical society to downtown Reno, into the Nelson Building on Second Street. In trade, UNR would get the current historical society building, along with two undeveloped parcels owned by the state.
The Nelson building is valued at $4.5 million. Most of that amount is offset by the $2.85 million appraisal of the historical society building, along with the value of the two undeveloped parcels and a significant donation to the Nevada Division of Museums and History.
