Report Says Sandoval Being Vetted For Supreme Court

Gov. Brian Sandoval is being vetted as potential Supreme Court nominee to fill the vacancy left by late justice Antonin Scalia.

The Washington Post reports that the Sandoval, a centrist Republican and former federal judge, is one of several candidates being considered by President Obama.

During a press conference in Reno last week, Sen. Harry Reid kept mum on the subject when pressed by reporters for his thoughts on a Sandoval nomination.

“As I said, any suggestions I make to the president are between him and I, and conversations that Brian [Sandoval] and I have are between us,” said Reid.

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell and other GOP leaders have flatly refused to hold confirmation hearings. McConnell says the Senate will not take up a nomination until after a new president is elected.
