Nevada lawmakers exchanged cross-fire at the start of U.S. Supreme Court arguments Monday over President Obama's executive actions to protects millions of undocumented immigrants.

In a volley of press releases, politicians and state officials on both sides of the aisle issued statements in the divisive debate over immigration reform.

Nevada is one of 26 states suing the Obama Administration over its executive orders that would shield more than 5 million undocumented people from deportation.

Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt says the president disregarded checks-and-balances required by the Constitution by bypassing Congress in issuing the orders.

U.S. Senator Harry Reid fired back in a lengthy press release saying Obama used executive authority under existing law in the face of Republican obstructionism. He says the action would help nearly 50,000 people in the Silver State.

The Supreme Court's ruling, expected later this summer, could have sweeping implications over the extent of executive power.
