Sen. Heller Still Noncommital On Supporting Trump

U.S. Senator Dean Heller told reporters in Reno on Tuesday he's still not ready to back his party's nominee for president.

Nevada's Republican senator says he's unhappy with comments Trump has made over the course of his campaign about women, minority groups, the disabled and veterans. He is, however, still giving Trump a chance.

"I'd like to get to a position that I can support him," said Heller. "Here's the problem: I want to wake up every morning, look myself in the mirror and feel very good about myself and what I'm doing for the state of Nevada. ...Right now, jumping on the Trump bandwagon isn't there for me yet."

Heller spoke to reporters after addressing an economic forum. He says he plans to carefully watch the presidential debates and will be clear about his decision before casting his vote.

Other high profile Republicans have also backed away from supporting Trump in recent weeks, including Gov. Brian Sandoval who says he still hasn’t decided if he will vote for the outspoken candidate.
