Always Lost: A Meditation On War is a traveling exhibit honoring veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars. It has been displayed at more than 50 venues across the country since it was created back in 2008 by students at Western Nevada College. One of those students is Amy Roby, who says the goal was to personalize the wars by highlighting the individuals who have given their lives.
"One person said that you cannot possibly leave this exhibition the same person you were when you walked in," Roby says. "Another person, a Vietnam veteran, called this exhibit a national treasure.”
There is now an audio book for people who are visually impaired. It includes literary work from the exhibit, including the original poetry and personal story of Army Specialist Noah C. Pierce who died by suicide after two combat tours in Iraq.
