Mt. Rose Elementary students recently presented their ideas to city council to solve some of Reno's more pressing problems. Our contributor Bob Conrad with ThisisRenohas the story.
Fifth grade students took turns sharing their ideas with the mayor and council members on issues like increasing local food options and helping the homeless.
"They have to walk around the street and try to make a living with nothing, and we want to change that nothing to something."
That was Paige Adkins whose student group wants to provide care boxes for the homeless as a way to give them resources on the go, such as toiletries and clothes.
Mayor Hillary Schieve praised another group wanting to increase tourism with a new choose-your-own-adventure website.
"Nice. You're kind of tech entrepreneurs, sort of, right? Very well done."
Ultimately, council will select one group to put their project into action.
