One in six people – or 17 percent of Nevadans – live with hunger on an ongoing basis.
That's according to a new report from the Food Research and Action Center. Jocelyn Lantrip is with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. She says many of her clients are families where one or both parents work multiple low-wage, part-time jobs, and still struggle.
"They're still having to choose between their rent and food, or medical care and food, and those are tough choices."
Lantrip says as many as one in four children in Northern Nevada don't get enough to eat on a regular basis. Nevada ranks 23rd among states with the highest food hardships. Topping the list are Mississippi, Louisiana and West Virginia
