Democratic Party leaders and Nevada's Secretary of State are discouraging voters from trying to participate in both caucuses after a loophole was discovered.
Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske says those suspected of participating in both caucuses will be reported to both major political parties and may be subject to disqualification from further voting.
Her statement was issued after the College Republicans at the University of Nevada, Reno, circulated an email suggesting registered Republicans could show up to the Democratic caucuses on Saturday, switch party affiliations and vote.
The email says Republicans could still participate in Tuesday's caucus due a lag in updating voter registration rolls.
The state's Democratic Party, as well as Sen. Harry Reid, condemned the note. Democrats say they will report anyone who falsely registers as a Democrat with law enforcement.
Nevada's caucuses are organized by the parties, not the state, and are closed to only those registered.
