The City of Reno is holding a virtual town hall Thursday in Spanish with Councilmember Oscar Delgado to answer questions from northern Nevadans about the pandemic.

Information about COVID-19 evolves quickly, and providing updates city-wide in Spanish can be a challenge. Cynthia Esparza works in community engagement with the City of Reno’s Neighborhood Services Department. She oversees the city’s Spanish Communications Program and manages the City of Reno En EspañolFacebook page, where the virtual COVID-19 “charla,” which means “chat,” will take place.

While the city does amonthly segmenton Juan 101.7 FM, this is its first Facebook Live event in Spanish.

“It’s a safe space, we want to have questions, we want the community to know that there are representatives who speak their language,” Esparza said, “so we look forward to that conversation and really connecting with the community.”

Councilmember Oscar Delgado, who is bilingual, and other city representatives will answer questions during the video streaming event.

Participants will also be able to submit questions in real time as comments on the live stream.
