If you’ve watched National Geographic’s television show NatGeo WILD or visited the Discovery Museum in the past several weeks, you’re likely to have encountered what are called Monster Fish. Zeb Hogan, assistant research professor with the University of Nevada, Reno’s Department of Biology, has studied these fresh-water fish—the largest in the world—for nearly 20 years.
Dr. Hogan—Zeb—was this week’s guest of University President Marc Johnson on KUNR’sBeyond the Headlines (air date 12-4-15.) They discussed Zeb’s work with National Geographic that has taken him around the world to study these rare and often threatened fish, and how that partnership along with the University’s College of Science grew to bring the new traveling exhibit from Washington, D.C., to Reno’s Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum. The exhibit, Monster Fish: In Search of the Last River Giants, runs through April 2016.
