In Reno, Bill Clinton Zings Hillary's Rivals

Former President Bill Clinton swung through Reno Friday night to campaign for his wife, Democratic contender Hillary Clinton.

He spoke for more than hour to a crowd of about 500 people at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.

Although never mentioning any other candidates by name, Clinton struck out at Republicans for what he called divisive politics.

"When they get done blaming Mexicans, Muslims and immigrants of all kinds, they blame President Obama," he said.

The former president has stepped up his campaigning ahead of the Iowa and New Hampshire contests, where Hillary's lead has slipped to rival Bernie Sanders.

In remarks aimed at the Vermont senator, Clinton said Hillary would be able to build on President Obama's accomplishments, even with a divided Congress.

"Who's the best qualified to do that and protect us and make the world safer, more cooperative and more peaceful? It's not close," he said.

Clinton said he carried Nevada both in 1992 and 1996 and that he would be counting on the Silver State to caucus for Hillary on February 20.
