In the battleground state of Nevada, Republican Donald Trump is now slightly leading Democrat Hillary Clinton in the race to the White House. That’s according to a new pollby Monmouth University.  Our reporter Anh Gray has the details.

Trump leads Clinton 44 to 42 percent and continues to be ahead with mostly white and male voters.

Seth Richardson is a political reporter with the Reno Gazette-Journal.

“It’s within the margin of error, but it shows what we’ve seen from previous polls over the last few weeks that show Nevada is really, really close," Richardson says. "I can’t stress enough how close it is.”

Richardson says new poll numbers could indicate that many Nevadans are weary of career politicians.

“You look at what’s happened in Nevada over the last eight years—the hardest hit by the real estate crisis. No state was hit harder," Richardson explains. "I think you have a real kind of disdain for politics as usual, and Clinton is kind of seen as the politics as usual, whereas Trump is the quintessential non-politician.”

Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson received just eight percent in the poll.
