President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold an in-person rally in Carson City on Sunday.
The president has already made two campaign stops in Nevada, one indoors and one outside, where his supporters have packed together and many have not worn masks. This can increase the risk of disease transmission.
But as of right now, it appears that few cases have been linked to rallies in Nevada. Brian Labus, a member of the state’s COVID-19 medical advisory team, explains why that information is difficult to pin down.
“A lot of times the health departments aren’t necessarily releasing that information, but there’s always that potential that one rally could serve as kind of a super spreader event. Just the way that the event in the Rose Garden at the White House did,” Labus said.
Labus said another concern is that people will get exposed at the rally and then spread the virus when they return home.
