UNR Hosts Fulbright Foreign Scholars

Feb 17, 2016

A group of Fulbright Foreign Scholarship officials recently visited UNR.  They came to northern Nevada to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Fulbright program.  KUNR's Steve Shadley spoke with Doctor Laura Skandera Trombley, Fulbright Foreign Board Chair and UNR's Emma Sepulveda Pulvirenti, a Fulbright board member.

A national honor has highlighted the achievements of a University of Nevada, Reno leader, and elevated the university's profile internationally.

Dr. Emma Sepúlveda Pulvirenti, professor in World Languages and Literature and director of the Latino Research Center, has been appointed by President Obama to the William J. Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board as one of four new members of the prestigious 12-member board. She was also named as the Nevada Regents 2015 Creative Activities Award recipient.

Northern Nevada International Center promotes citizen diplomacy by connecting international visitors and local community members. Carina Black, PhD, the center's director, discusses the center's work with David Stipech on KUNR's Beyond the Headlines (7-18-14).
