KUNR went on the air on October 7, 1963 from a much smaller University of Nevada, Reno, campus. As the region has grown, so has KUNR. Today Reno Public Radio has some 50,000 weekly listeners, serving 20 communities throughout more than 100,000 square miles in northern and eastern Nevada and northeastern California.
