On May 27 at 3:30pm. Valhalla Tahoe at the Tallac Historic Site offers a Chautauqua presentation of James & Margret Reed in Those That Survived. Many don’t know that of the 80+ members of the infamous Donner Party that attempted a crossing of the Sierra Nevada that dreadful winter of 1846, over half survived. The heroism, courage and sheer determination of a few can be credited with the survival of many. Against all odds, James and Margret Reed, brought all four of their children alive through the terrible ordeal, and aided and assisted dozens of their companions in their fight to remain alive. The program is free and open to the public and presented inside the Valhalla Boathouse Theatre 4-miles west of the “Y” in South Lake Tahoe on Hwy 89.
