KTMB’s Christmas Tree Recycling Program provides community residents with an easy alternative to sending trees to the landfill or dumping them in the desert. Keeping trees out of our open spaces reduces fire risk in the summer and the Christmas tree mulch is used for weed abatement and park beautification projects.

Over the last 17 years, 169,000 trees have been recycled through KTMB’s Christmas Tree Recycling program thanks to the help of thousands of volunteers and our many partners including NV Energy Foundation and Washoe County Health District.
