Carson Valley, Sparks Home Prices Reach Record Highs In July
Another month, another round of record home prices, this time in Sparks and the Carson Valley.
In the East Fork Township, the median sales price last month was more than $577,000, and in Sparks, median home prices reached $500,000 for the first time ever. That’s an increase of more than 20% from this time last year, according to the Reno-Sparks Association of Realtors.
The group attributes low mortgage interest rates as one way people are able to keep up with rising costs.

Reno-Based Firm Helping Local Governments Track Emissions
There’s an old saying in the business world: what gets measured gets managed. One of the challenges in managing the greenhouse gas emissions warming the atmosphere is that they aren’t measured very well or quickly. A Reno-based startup is aiming to change that.
Ledger8760 measures real-time energy, emissions and utility information from hundreds of sources. The firm has been contracted by the state of Nevada, Washoe County and the City of Reno. Over the next three years, it will receive $6,500 a month from the county and city, plus an additional $1,500 a month from the state.
The goal is to monitor and reduce emissions outlined in the Paris Agreement on climate change.
