This week Robin Hollabird discusses three movies likely to make a big impact on the upcoming Oscar's. First, is the movie Beginners with Ewan McGregor in which a young man is rocked by two announcements from his elderly father: that he has terminal cancer, and that he has a young male lover. Second, is The Help: an aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis. Lastly she discusses the movie The Artist. it's about a silent movie star George Valentin who bemoans the coming era of talking pictures and fades into oblivion and self-destruction, but finds sparks with Peppy Miller, a young dancer lighting up talkies like no one else.
