Most parents love to give their children everything they want from clothes, toys, and entertainment. It isn't surprising that so many young people these days see themselves as the center of the family universe. But many parents notice that children don't take care of their things. They will destroy clothes and toys or forget about them shortly after receiving them. Around the holidays attitudes like these become more evident when gift giving time comes and a child is unhappy with their presents. Parents can help their children become generous by teaching them and modeling such attitudes well for your children. If you have a sneaky feeling that your children are a bit self-centered, you may want to begin conscientiously modeling these qualities for your children. For suggestions on how to do this and to encourage your children to talk about their feelings listen in to this week's edition of Parenting.
