2018 Nobel Prize In Literature Is A Casualty Of Sex-Abuse Scandal

DAVID GREENE, HOST:

All right. The Swedish Academy announced this morning that it is not going to announce a winner for the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature. This comes after several tumultuous months for the Academy as it deals with sexual assault allegations against the photographer Jean-Claude Arnault.

RACHEL MARTIN, HOST:

Yeah. Arnault was working on a project funded by the Academy, and some of the accusers say these assaults happened on properties that belong to the Academy. The allegations against Arnault were made last November, and several members of the academy ended up resigning. This will be the first time since World War II that the Nobel Prize in Literature will not be awarded. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
