'Bridgerton' and 'The Gilded Age' present uneasy marriage of escapist fantasy and social commentary

Netflix returned with season 2 of hit show “Bridgerton,” which began streaming as HBO’s ‘The Gilded Age’ wrapped up. Both shows have diverse casts, sumptuous depictions of the 1800s and an obsession with wealth.
