Inspired by the historical connection between the erhu (the two-string Chinese violin) and the four-stringed Wester violin – both essential leading instruments from which the group takes its name --- 6-WIRE was founded by violinist Xiang Gao and erhu master Cathy Yang. The two compose and perform contemporary, classical, chamber, world and jazz music with remarkable pianist and composer, Matthew Brower.
